Velocity Profile and Turbulence Structure Measurement Corrections for Sediment Transport-Induced Water-Worked Bed

چکیده

When using point measurement for environmental or sediment laden flows, there is well-recognised risk not having aligned measurements that causes misinterpretation of the measured velocity data. In reality, these kinds mismeasurement mainly happen due to bed orientation caused by complexity its determination in natural especially bedload rough flows. This study proposes a novel realignment method improve data benchmarking three-dimensional (3D) profile and implemented it into different sets experimental More specifically, effects on streamwise turbulence structure were investigated. The proposed technique was tested against collected over water-worked an experimentally arranged well-packed beds. Different from bed, has been generated after long transport settling hence can be used verify bed-alignment thoroughly. During flow analysis, corrected velocity, intensity Reynolds stress profiles compared theoretical logarithmic law, exponential law linear gravity (universal distribution) profiles, respectively. It observed improved agreement with their actual particularly near-bed region (where ratio vertical distance total water depth, z/h, limited ≤0.4).

Velocity Distribution and 3D Turbulence Characteristic Analysis for Flow over Water-Worked Rough Bed

To reproduce the natural flow topography in a laboratory environment, it is crucial to recapture its bed condition in order to ensure the accurate representation. Water-worked bed represents a state-of-the-art experimentally formed bed to imitate the natural-formed channel in most rivers or natural streams. Recently, this technique has been intensively studied through experimental and computati...

Effect of migrating bed topography on flow turbulence: implications for modeling sediment transport

Include a brief (<300 words) abstract, by itself, on p.2. Abstracts may not be published in the printed book but will be used in review and editing and may be used in web presentations of the book contents. Understanding and quantifying the co-evolution of migrating bed topography and flow turbulence is crucial for characterizing sediment transport in alluvial rivers. The self-organized bed for...

Impact of sediment-induced stratification and turbulence closures on sediment transport and morphological modelling

Appropriate descriptions of turbulence are important in predicting sediment transport and seabed evolution. We use here a three-dimensional model to investigate the impacts of sediment-induced stratification, erosion parameterization, and turbulence closures on sediment transport and morphological simulations. The model is implemented in the Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory Coastal Ocean Model...

The Modal and Flow Velocity Corrections of Microphone Turbulence Screens

Microphone turbulence screens are used to suppress turbulent pressure fluctuations when measuring the acoustic pressure inside a duct with flow. They consist of a long tube with a slit covered with porous material, and thus are also called sampling tubes. Because they are not omnidirectional, it is necessary to calculate corrections when higher order modes are propagating in the duct. In order ...
